Designed by renown golf course architect Pete Dye, Kimisarazu Golf Links in Chiba Prefecture was the first course in Japan created by the visionary genius.
Said to have designed some of the most exciting golf courses in the world, Dye’s creation at Kimisarazu has attracted an international audience since 1992. Located in a hilly area of Chiba Prefecture, the undulating curves of the course are reminiscent of authentic links. From the glistening blue pond to the smooth white sands and the vibrant greens of the turf, Kimisarazu is as stunning as it is strategic.
No. 17 Par 3
Besides Florida’s TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course and California’s PGA West, Kimisarazu is one of just three golf courses worldwide featuring Pete Dye’s signature hole, the par-3 17th, known as the island green.
No. 4 Par 4
Though 355 yards, the 4th hole is widely considered the most gentle on the course. Featuring both a pond and pot bunker, a successful tee shot will guarantee just 100 yards on the second. In the past, rope was placed on a tree near the greens as a dark prop for those crudely joking that those missing such a short hole deserved to be hung. (This tree no longer exists).
No. 10 Par 5
At first glance, the 10th will appear mild and relatively straightforward. But with closer inspection, your worst golf fears may be realized! Featuring wide sides and rolling hills, golfers will be challenged by the pot bunker in the foreground and the cliff in the background. Shore up some courage and sharpen your sense of distance for this impromptu skills test!
